Privacy Policy

MathsArena (the “Service”) is a competitive mental-math game operated by Lorenzo Tiraboschi. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We designed the product to collect as little as possible: just enough to run gameplay, matchmaking, and the social features you opt into.

What we collect

• Account data. Email address, username, optional display name, optional country and affiliation, and an avatar URL if you sign in with Google or Apple.
• Gameplay data. Match outcomes, Elo rating, daily puzzle results, sprint scores, achievements, friend connections, and challenge codes you create or accept.
• Device data. A push notification token (only if you grant notification permission) so we can send you challenge invitations and streak reminders. We also receive Apple-provided crash and performance metrics via MetricKit; these are aggregate, not tied to you personally.
• Authentication metadata. The auth provider (email, Google, Apple) and timestamps for sign-in, password reset, and email verification.

We do notcollect: payment info (the app is free), precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera input, advertising identifiers, or any data we don’t need to deliver the gameplay experience.

How we use it

• To match you with opponents at a comparable skill level.
• To compute and display Elo, streaks, achievements, and leaderboards.
• To deliver email and push notifications about challenges, friend requests, and streak-risk reminders.
• To prevent abuse (rate limiting friend requests, detecting stale matches, etc.).
• To monitor service health and stability via aggregate metrics and crash reports.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We do not run third-party advertising and we do not use behavioral tracking.

Where it lives

Your data is stored on infrastructure operated by these third-party providers, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Supabase— primary database and authentication. Hosted in the U.S.
• Vercel— web hosting and edge functions.
• Resend— transactional email (verification, password reset, challenge invites).
• Apple Push Notification service— delivery of push notifications, used only if you opt in.
• Google and Apple— authentication providers, used only if you sign in with them. We receive your name, email, and avatar URL; nothing else.

Your rights

• Access. Email thisismatharena@gmail.com to request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Deletion.The app has a built-in “Delete account” option in Profile → Settings. This permanently removes your profile, gameplay history, friend connections, and push tokens.
• Correction. You can edit your username, display name, affiliation, and country at any time in Profile.
• Notification opt-out.Turn off push in Settings → Notifications → MathsArena on iOS. Email notifications respect Resend’s standard unsubscribe footer.
• EU / UK / California residents. You have additional rights under GDPR, the UK GDPR, and the CCPA respectively, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us at the email above to exercise them.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, profile data and gameplay history are removed within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymized statistics (e.g. “number of matches played in May”) may be retained for service-analytics purposes.

Children

MathsArena is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App Store age rating of 4+ reflects content appropriateness, not target audience — our intended users are 13 and older. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and via email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
